Royals Sweep the Bo Sox!!!

In a clear sign that the end times are near, The Kansas City Royals swept a three game home series against the heavy hitting Boston Red Sox. Go us!!! In the process, KC beat Jonathon Papelbon (of the Nintendo stats line) and Curt Schilling (vying for his 15th victory). Have I said, “Go us!!!”?

The excitement at Kauffman Stadium was huge, sort of like the early 80s. Baseball, in my mind, is and will always be the national sport. Yes, I know that the NFL is far and away the sport that gets the best TV ratings and has the best business model, etc. So what? Baseball has something you can follow (even on teams that are out of the running): a great hitter’s daily line, a rookie pitcher’s progress, etc.–and it’s new every day.

I’m truly saddended every year when the boys of summer are gone.

  1. Hockey is way cooler…

    There’s more blood.

  2. Yeah, that’s why it happens on ice–keeps the number of deaths down. Other than that, baseball is way better than hockey. But, opinions are never wrong, so I’ll let you be deluded 😛

Hockey is also very cool, but it does suffer from being an absolutely horrible television sport. Great in person, but bad on the tube.

Funny, I was actually thinking the same thing about baseball! When I was wee wittle my grandmom used to take me to the Columbus Clippers games. (Yankees affiliate) It was way better than on TV.

  4. Oh, I agree; almost all sporting events are better in person. Strangely, I don’t think the NFL is (better camera angles, replays, etc on the tube–and cheaper beer at home). However, you can easily follow a baseball game on TV. You can’t watch all the minutae (fielding alignments and all), but you can get most of it. With hockey, you can hardly see the puck, you can’t appreciate the passing skill because of this, or the stick handling–it’s just not as clear on TV. New 60 inch, HD TVs are helping a bit, but I would still say hockey is the worst sport to follow on TV.

    And the Yankees suck.

We want one. Can we borrow a few grand?

    And the Yankees suck.

Grandmom (and by extension, I) would agree. Bastards kept taking all our best players!!!

You won’t find any Steinbrenner fans amongst us.
